ROAD SAFETY SECTION

1. How should you overtake a pedal cyclist?

a) The same as you would another car, with safety.
b) Sound your horn to warn the cyclist to get off the road.
c) Drive as close as possible to the cyclist so he or she will move over and let you pass.


2. If an overtaking vehicle signals that it must move in, in front of you, you should -

a) Speed up and not let the vehicle back in.
b) Prepare to slow down to allow room.
c) Flash your lights at the overtaking vehicle.


3. The first thing you should do before overtaking is -

a) Increase your speed.
b) Sound your horn.
c) Make sure it is safe and the way is clear of oncoming traffic.


4. Learner drivers cannot get demerit points on their licence. If a learner commits a driving offence -

a) It does not matter because the driver is still learning.
b) The driver will only be fined.
c) The court or the RTA may cancel the licence.


5. If you are convicted of driving with a blood alcohol level that is over the limit for your licence, you could lose your driver’s licence. You may also -

8. What is this driver doing that is negligent and illegal?

a) Overtaking on the kerb side.
b) Not signalling to change lanes.
c) Crossing an unbroken line at a curve.


9. The speed limit on this road is 90 km/h. You have just overtaken a vehicle in the left lane. What should you do next?

a) Accelerate away from the other vehicle and keep driving in this lane.
b) Keep your position in this lane.
c) Move into the left lane.


10. Another vehicle is overtaking you on your right. You commit a traffic offence if you -

a) Speed up while the other vehicle is on your right.
b) Keep the same speed.
c) Slow down while the other vehicle is on your right.
